A group of us - Jim and Susan Willig, Ray and Enid Rossi, Dawn Sampson, Ginger Doyle, David and Jodi Knudson and their youngest son Jonathan, and I - drove to a campground near Senoita, Arizona, in the Willigs' RV.

Jonathan had stayed home from school with a high fever.

He went with us, and had already vomited several times on the drive to the campground.

Jodi and David tried to get him to take Solar remedies, but Jonathan refused.

He kept demanding an aspirin.

Adano described Jonathan's illness as ATG, "attention-getting syndrome."

Finally Adano took Jodi aside and quietly told her (so Jonathan wouldn't overhear), "Give him this and tell him it's an aspirin. Give him a glass of water and tell him to swallow it whole."

He slipped her a large slippery elm lozenge.

Jonathan swallowed the "aspirin," and fell asleep in minutes.

Adano lectured us on the power of placebo.

He told us if he had offered the aspirin earlier, the placebo wouldn't have worked.

Jonathan had to invest his time and energy into the idea.

Jonathan slept soundly for the entire ride back to Tucson.

Jodi woke him up when we were home, and he victoriously announced as he diembarked from the RV, "See, I told you all I needed was an aspirin!"
