Re: Why you watching Disney movies, Atom?

Usually I avoid Mouse flicks like a Californian avoids making a full stop at a Stop sign, so Disney's The Kid is an exception to the rule.

I'm not a fan of the screenwriter or director either, so The Kid is some kind of Cosmic Exception to the Rule. (I saw it three days in a row at the movie theater in 2000.)

My attitude about Disney wasn't nurtured by me showing up at the gate of the Disney Studios in 1960, when the security guard told me, "You haven't got the chance of a snowball in Hell of getting a job here. Cartoonists are a dime a dozen."

Will someone please ask Dr. Jack Kruse about highly unsaturated fatty acids and Yellow Fat Disease (Cumulative Lipofuscinosis)?

My extensive bibliography shows docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a major cause of Yellow Fat Disease, yet Dr. Kruse advocates eating cold-water seafood.

<>

Someone called Ed wrote Dr. Kruse ...

"Jack, I’ve been reading many of your blogs on the importance of a steady supply of DHA and its role in our cell membranes. Recently I came across a blog by Chris Masterjohn entitled, 'How Essential Are the Essential Fatty Acids?' The PUFA Report Part I: A Critical Review of the Requirement for Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids. He dismisses the importance of DHA in our diets. Wondering if you have read this blog and if you would comment on why there exists such a difference of opinion. Such disagreement between two experts is confusing to me if I am understanding each point of view correctly. Thank you."

Dr. Kruse replied ...

"I have. All of the studies Chris reads are done under blue light. Blue light destroys DHA so this is where his impression comes from. Chris is a smart PhD academic, but he is not wise."

Then I (a certified member of the Not Wise Tribe) might ask ...

"Why do algae, a primary source of DHA, live only in the Sunlight and Blue Light Zone of the ocean (Epipelagic Zone). They can't survive in the Mesopelagic Zone, the Marginal Blue Light Zone."

Am I missing something or is it a quantum lack of quantum DHA in my quantum mitochondria?

"While rodents live a year or two — and die in a much more hydrated state than people or animals that live approximately a century — at the end of a rodent's normal life span its cells (e.g., brain and heart) contain as much lipofuscin as the cells of century-old people do. Dogs accumulate lipofuscin about 5.5 times as fast as people do, and people live about 5.5 times as long as dogs. This is just what we might expect if lipofuscin is the 'terminal toxin.'"

In general. coffee drinkers have longer and healthier lifespans, less obesity, less cardiovascular disease, less Alzheimer's disease, less Parkinson's disease, less type 2 diabetes, less cancer, 40% less gout, better mental health, and earn more money.

That said, Anything Can Cause Anything and Anything Can Cure Anything, so food intolerances and allergies can be triggered from almost any food or herb or drug.

Inflammation indicates a problem (for example, an acid-base imbalance, an endocrine imbalance, a Cognitive Shock, etc.), so avoidance is generally a smart thing to do.

Some "coffee" issues can be traced to fluoridated water, such as a 1% increase in bladder cancer that was once blamed on coffee.
