I finally bought my own two-volume copy of it about ten years ago, although I first discovered a single-volume edition of it in a public library in Redding, California, in January, 1969.

I talked a Greek Swami into reading it over a decade ago.

His only devotees were topless dancers, and he was following Bob Dylan around, covertly “protecting” him (in the safeguarding tradition of The Watchers).

The Swami didn’t have enough room in his Malibu house to house his entire library of books, so he rented two storage units for the rest of them.

I lost track of this fascinating Swami after I moved to La Jolla.

Fortunately, our vulnerable flesh-and-blood backsides are being safeguarded by a Spiritual Hierarchy.
