Along came Guru Nanak, who asked them why they did this.

The pilgrims explained that the water was being thrown as oblations to the spirits of their deceased ancestors.

So Nanak began throwing palms full of water to the WEST.

The pilgrims confronted him about this sacrilegious act, asking him why he was throwing his water to the west.

Nanak replied, “This is for my farm near Lahore which needs watering.”
